Encrypted Data
After downloading driver card data, the TachoData app automatically sends you an email with the infringement report (PDF) and the card data (ZIP). Both files are encrypted — password-protected for your data security.
What do you receive by email?
After a successful card download and upload, you receive the following files by email:
| File | Content | Encryption |
|---|---|---|
| report_...pdf | Infringement report — detailed analysis of driving and rest times | Password-protected PDF |
| C_2026...zip | Digital data file from the driver card (.ddd file) | Password-protected ZIP |
What is the password?
The encryption password is the last 6 characters of the driving licence number stored on the driver card.
Example
If the driving licence number is CZ123456, the password is: 123456
View access code in the app
If you don't remember the password, you can check it anytime in the app:
- Open the TachoData app
- Tap the menu icon (☰) in the bottom right corner
- Select "Access Code"
- The 6-character code is displayed — use this to open your files
Opening the PDF file
The encrypted PDF file can be opened with any PDF reader (Adobe Reader, browser, etc.). When opening, it will ask for a password — enter the 6-character code described above.
- Open the received report_...pdf file
- In the dialog box, enter the password (last 6 characters of the licence number)
- Click "Submit" or "OK"
- The report will be displayed
Extracting the ZIP file
Important: Windows 11 limitation
The built-in Windows 11 File Explorer does not support extracting password-protected ZIP files. It will show the contents but extraction will fail. You need a third-party program!
Recommended free programs for extracting encrypted ZIP files:
Steps to extract (using 7-Zip as an example):
- Install 7-Zip
- Right-click on the .zip file → 7-Zip → "Extract Here..."
- Enter the password (last 6 characters of the driving licence number)
- The .ddd file will be extracted
